On Wednesday, the spouse of the newly elected Alaafin, AbIWumi Owoade, paid a visit to those affected by a land conflict in Ilora, within the Afijio Local Government Area of Oyo State. She generously donated funds to assist them.
Every victim was given N50,000 on behalf of Alaafin Owoade.
While visiting, Owoade also highlighted that peace, unity, and communal harmony are crucial elements for the progress of both the city and society as a whole.
She emphasized that the residents of Ibadan should assume shared accountability in advocating for peace to create a conducive atmosphere.
Bode Durojaiye, who serves as the Director of Media and Publicity for the Alaafin, stated in an official release that Owoade emphasized how crucial peace is not just for fostering community growth but also for establishing strong institutions.
"Peace fosters conditions conducive to building human resources and developing infrastructure. This is the moment to construct a resilient and cohesive society. We should abandon all actions that impede peaceful coexistence," Owoade stated.
She went on to stress that peace is an essential resource for both individual and communal development.
"Throughout history, unity has consistently demonstrated its power for transformation. Adopting unity is both an aspiration and a practical requirement," she asserted.
Moreover, she brought attention to one of the fundamental tenets of Alaafin Owoade: acknowledging our common humanity despite our diversities. She promoted conversation, respect, and compassion as means to encourage teamwork and surmount obstacles.
"Through collaboration and unity, we can accomplish more significant achievements and build a brighter future for both ourselves and our communities," Owoade emphasized.
