Titanium stands out due to its mechanical strength, resistance to corrosion, and remarkable lightweight properties. This makes us enthusiasts particularly fond of timepieces crafted from this low-density material. Way back in 1970, Citizen was the first business to produce and market a titanium timepiece—the X-8 Chronometer—which has now become highly sought after by collectors.
Fifty-five years later, the brand has expanded upon that legacy with two new 43.2mm Attesas. watch The models come equipped with full Super Titanium, a specialized variant developed by Citizen, known for being at least five times more durable than traditional stainless steel. These two versions—one featuring a sleek silver finish and the other adorned with a dark gray diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating—are the inaugural Attesa series to incorporate a ceramic bezel housing an internal world time display.
Equipped with Citizen's own F950 movement, their top-tier Eco-Drive Satellite Wave GPS system allows for rapid time adjustments worldwide through orbiting satellites within just three seconds. Should there be no satellite updates, these watches maintain accuracy within ±five seconds per month. Additionally, every watch includes Double Direct Flight functionality, enabling wearers to choose the local time from among 27 different time zones in only two steps.
The two editions both showcase textured grey dials with three subdials, a date display positioned between the four and five markers, and applied indices that add dimensionality. Both models are equipped with an integrated, triple-link, Super Titanium band designed for enhanced comfort and longevity.
However, that's not all—this 24-hour chronograph can measure events with precision up to 1/20th of a second. The perpetual calendar function adjusts itself at the conclusion of each month and takes into account leap years, so you won’t have to worry about resetting it until February 28, 2100. Additionally, both features offer water resistance up to 100 meters and include an alarm for waking up or setting reminders. With an anti-reflective-coated sapphire crystal along with luminescent painted hands, viewing this detailed display becomes effortless under almost any lighting conditions.
Given that the Attesa utilizes Citizen’s light-powered EcoDrive technology, these timepieces will never require a new battery and can operate continuously for up to five years without exposure to any additional lighting (when in saver mode). Despite this, the watches include a power reserve display which shows how much illumination the system is currently capturing; however, such data isn’t likely needed frequently.
