AMHERST, N.Y. (AP) — No undefeated squads remain in NCAA men’s college basketball competition at any division level.
Daemen University, situated in the suburbs of Amherst near Buffalo, New York, was eliminated from the Division II men’s tournament on Sunday evening. The Wildcats fell to St. Thomas Aquinas in the second round of the East Regional with a score of 79-74.
Before their season-ending defeat on Sunday, Daemen (28-1) had a perfect 3-0 record against St. Thomas Aquinas this season.
Before losing to Florida on January 7, Tennessee remained the sole undefeated team in Division I mens basketball with a record of 14-0. Similarly, Weslayan stayed as the only unbeatendivision III mens team at 26-0 until they were defeated by Trinity during the NESCAC championship match on March 2.
The sole undefeated NCAA basketball team for this season remains NYU’s women’s squad, carrying an impressive 29-0 record along with a 60-game winning streak into Thursday’s Division III national semifinal game against Wisconsin-Stout in Salem, Virginia.
