Addis Ababa, March 20, 2025 (ENA) — Ethiopia plans to inaugurated the historical Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) at the beginning of the upcoming new Ethiopian year.
In response to queries from parliamentarians today, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed stated that Ethiopians will create history as they jointly cut the ribbon at the start of the upcoming Ethiopian new year.
At the premiere, the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam stands as Africa’s pride, symbolizing the nation's resilience and potential.
Abiy emphasized that GERD serves as a concrete example that Africans have the ability to transform their circumstances by utilizing and developing their own assets independently.
The prime minister firmly expressed his desire that future generations will keep undertaking similar historic initiatives in the coming years.
Stressing the Ethiopian government's dedication to avoiding harm to downstream nations, especially Egypt, the prime minister highlighted that Ethiopia aims to produce electricity.
Moreover, he highlighted the importance of constructive talks with Egypt, stating that Ethiopia will keep collaborating with Egyptians for the advantage of both nations and their peoples.
