Girls' Education Foundation Celebrates First Cohort of 30 Groundbreaking Innovators

The Girls' Education Foundation Liberia has successfully completed the first cycle of its Adolescent Leadership Training Program, proudly graduating 30 young innovators. This achievement represents a major step forward in empowering young people.

Among those who left were 22 females and 8 boys, all of whom finished an extensive leadership program.

The graduation ceremony held at Buchanan City Hall on Saturday, March 15, 2025 had Grand Bassa District #5 Representative Thomas Alexander Goshua as the keynote speaker. Drawing inspiration from the popular gospel tune "Salt of the Earth" by Michael Mahendere, Rep. Goshua motivated the graduating class to become catalysts for change within their respective communities. Highlighting key themes such as leadership, perseverance, and community service, he urged these emerging leaders to embrace principles fostering progress and development.

During her speech, Linda Playma Lloyd, CEO of Girls' Education Foundation Liberia, looked back at the organization’s path since its founding in 2018. She restated their commitment to championing the rights of young girls and boys, ensuring they gain crucial abilities needed for a promising tomorrow.

Nevertheless, the graduates were motivated through courses in public speaking, menstrual hygiene management, conflict prevention, entrepreneurship, volunteerism, and mental health awareness.

The graduation ceremony was a time for jubilation, with delighted parents cheering on their offspring as the students demonstrated the abilities and insights acquired during their studies. This event underscored the impact of education and guidance in fostering Liberia’s upcoming wave of inventors and agents of change.
