Government Thwarts Violence as Geza Promises Nationwide Protests

THE GOVERNMENT has reacted to former war veteran Blessed Geza's incendiary social media statement, where he demanded a national demonstration on March 31 and urged for President Emmerson Mnangagwa to step down immediately, labeling it as "unrealistic outbursts and reactive posturing."

Geza, who once served as a member of the Zanu PF Central Committee and is currently a fugitive, resurfaced on Tuesday evening urging for a demonstration against Mnangagwa. He alleges that Mnangagwa is responsible for endorsing and allowing widespread corruption, which has severely damaged Zimbabwe’s economy.

On Thursday, Information Minister Jenfan Muswere stated that law enforcement officers are prepared to suppress any violent protests. He also appealed to Zimbabweans not to heed Geza's call.

"We want to reassure the country that we will prevent any form of violent protest from occurring. We encourage Zimbabweans to disregard Geza’s unrealistic claims; his rhetoric and reactive posturing clearly divert attention from our true objectives," stated Muswere.

Geza is driven by divisiveness and factionalism, intent on planting seeds of discord; however, none of his endeavors will yield success.

He is evading justice, and it won’t take much longer for his provocative comments to be addressed.

At present, there are two separate camps within the governing party.

A supporter of Mnangagwa is calling for the postponement of the 2028 elections so he can stay in power until 2030, whereas another individual, thought to be linked with Vice President Constantine Chiwenga, is urging compliance with the constitutionally mandated term limits.

Muswere similarly dismissed these claims as speculations that would not fracture the leadership.

Law enforcement officers are on heightened alert, prepared to handle individuals who try to instill despair within the nation’s boundaries.

"Not even the tiniest bit of creativity will cause discord among the leaders," he said additionally.

Meanwhile, Mnangagwa has called himself a constitutionalist who will not remain in power beyond the constitutionally stipulated two terms but has not publicly rebuked those pushing for his stay.
