A United States jury has ordered compensation amounting to hundreds of millions of dollars for a pipeline firm following their lawsuit against Greenpeace. The environmental organization was accused of significantly contributing to the 2016 demonstrations against the Dakota Access Pipeline.

A jury in North Dakota has ruled that Greenpeace must pay several hundred million dollars in damages to Energy Transfer, the corporation responsible for the Dakota Access Pipeline.
In 2016, the corporation filed a lawsuit against Greenpeace due to their role in orchestrating demonstrations close to the Standing Rock Reservation.
The oil pipeline became a contentious issue in 2016, sparking extensive demonstrations due to worries over the infringement of Native American tribal rights.
The legal case alleged that Greenpeace International based in the Netherlands, along with Greenpeace USA and its supporting organization, the Greenpeace Fund Inc., were responsible for defamation, trespassing, public nuisance, civil conspiracy, and various other actions.
