Hyderabad Police Issues Security Alert for BJP Leader T Raja Singh

Hyderabad, Telangana [India], March 20 (ANI): The Hyderabad Police have released an announcement security alert To Telangana BJP MLA Raja Singh, mentioning “repeated threats” to his personal safety and recommended he utilize a bulletproof car along with the security detail provided by the government.

According to an official statement, the police voiced their worry about Singh's lack of regard for security protocols, mentioning that he often travels in public areas unaccompanied.

The warning was released by the Chief of the Mangalhat Police Station on Wednesday.

The letter informed the BJP MLA that they had been getting numerous threatening phone calls. It was noted that they frequently left their home and workplace without proper protection, mingling with the general public, thus neglecting personal safety measures. Therefore, they were advised to enhance their security by utilizing a bulletproof car and making sure that the (1+4) government-assigned security staff accompany them at all times to avoid any potential mishaps.

"Please acknowledge receipt of this notice and cooperate with the police in maintaining law and order," it said.

In response to the security guideline, Raja Singh expressed doubts about its feasibility, noting that his area, Goshamahal, comprises colonies, shantytowns, and cramped streets. He pointed out that using a bulletproof car would lead to significant discomfort for the local population.

He highlighted his "dedication" to staying close to the public, which is why he chooses to travel by bicycle.

"I got an official notice from the police department informing me about a security risk and advising against riding my bicycle within my constituency. They suggested instead that I travel in a bulletproof car accompanied by armed guards for better safety. Nonetheless, the situation in Goshamahal tells another story; due to numerous tight alleys and side streets, such a heavy vehicle could cause significant inconvenience. Maintaining close contact with the community remains my top concern," Singh said.

He also emphasized what he called the “hypocrisy within the system,” noting that after applying for a firearm permit based on safety reasons, his request was denied by the same law enforcement agency because of ongoing legal proceedings against him.

"Paradoxically, some people facing charges have received gun licenses without any issues," he noted. (ANI)
