Lawson Shrugs Off Brown's Comments on Red Bull Selection

Liam Lawson maintains he has no interest in it McLaren CEO Zak Brown commented on Red Bull’s driver selection for 2025.

Following his comments post-qualifying for the recent Australian Grand Prix, Brown expressed praise. Yuki Tsunoda after he put his Racing Bulls Fifth on the starting grid, while Lawson had difficulties and managed only 18th place in his debut race with them. Red Bull .

Tsunoda was passed over in favor of Lawson by Red Bull’s team principal, Christian Horner, who chose to advance the New Zealander newcomer as his teammate for the defending champion. Max Verstappen following the choice to sever connections Sergio Perez .

This resulted in Tsunoda having to face a fifth year with the Red Bull Junior Team, which seemed to be an issue Brown—now apparently taking Toto Wolff’s role as Horner’s primary rival—was eager to challenge.

"Yuki really excelled. He might be the one who deserves a spot with Red Bull considering his performance, though occasionally they do make some puzzling driver selections," he stated on Sky Sports.

Lawson, who replaced Daniel Ricciardo At Racing Bulls for the concluding six races of last season, he crashed out in Melbourne, rounding off a disappointing initial stint with Red Bull—but he remained resolute when responding to Brown’s comments.

“To be frank, I don’t really care about what Zak has to say,” he stated before the Chinese Grand Prix. “I haven’t talked to him, not that I recall anyway. Also, I’ve avoided checking any social media over the past couple of weeks.”

It’s crucial to enjoy a great weekend since that seems to be our main objective. Certainly, we shouldn’t get discouraged right after one event; however, everyone naturally has lofty expectations. Personally, my experience in Melbourne fell short of my standards, hence our focus now is simply on having a successful weekend.

For Tsunoda, who believed he ought to have switched teams and raced alongside Verstappen this year, Brown’s remarks didn’t escape his notice.

"I valued Zak's comments about me in the press, but it's merely one race, and these issues have been ongoing since last year, starting with the first race," he stated.

Oh, Daniel/Checo, it's like a tradition between us, myself/Checo, and Liam/Checo.

So, it’s definitely a good thing, clearly, but I still need to stay focused on my tasks. Ultimately, they made their decision last year towards the end of the season with this lineup, and perhaps they have specific plans for the future.

I’m not sure about that, but ultimately, I’ll be sporting this [Racing Bulls] T-shirt; my focus will simply be on the emblem. As long as I wear the current logo, I'll be supporting the squad and boosting our performance.

I continue to think that there is significant room for my personal growth. Therefore, I am solely concentrating on that.
