The Rivers State Government has refuted claims that a High Court ordered the prevention of recently appointed Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), from taking office.
Dr. Edison Ehie, the Chief of Staff for the suspended governor Siminalayi Fubara, refuted the allegations as untrue and spiteful, suggesting they were made by people trying to heighten political tension within the state.
On Thursday, Ehie released a statement dismissing claims that he had initiated legal action against the appointment, characterizing the reports as the fabrications of "ignorant individuals" who struggled with spelling his name accurately.
He encouraged people to ignore the allegations, asserting that he continues to adhere to the law and intends to maintain his composure.
The statement indicated, "I have noticed what clearly appears to be false information circulating on social platforms, propagated by individuals with distorted perceptions. These people aim to escalate the already tense political climate within the state further. The misinformation suggests that I received an injunction from the Rivers State High Court prohibiting former Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas from returning to his role as Sole Administrator at the Government House in Port Harcourt."
The harmful posting asserted that the supposed ruling stemmed from a fabricated lawsuit I supposedly initiated contesting 'the Presidential Declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers State' as being unconstitutional.
Under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t have paid attention to this vacuous tirade on social media posted by individuals with questionable motives who excel at stirring up conflict and fostering discontent among the populace. However, to prevent unsuspecting citizens from falling for this blatant extortion and false information and accepting it as fact.
The reality is that the author is so poorly educated and literate that they can’t properly spell my name, or the names of those they claim to write about, not to mention getting the correct case numbers and dates when these cases were filed or heard.
It is crucial to inform both the general populace and specifically the residents of Rivers State to disregard this unfounded, false, and spiteful posting. It aims to foster discord among the community while portraying me as someone who does not conform.
I have subsequently made the decision to adhere strictly to legal standards and manage my activities peaceably within the bounds of the law. I remain steadfast in my beliefs and trust in God, and I do not intend to engage in anything that would portray me as a troublemaker.
Ehie insisted that the supposed court order and legal action were fabricated, stressing that his aim was not to disturb the administration within the state.
He urged people to disregard the report, labeling it as an effort to disseminate false information and stir up dissent.
