Nvidia announced on Thursday that it will establish a quantum computing research laboratory in Boston. The company intends to work alongside researchers from Harvard University and MIT, as stated by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.
Huang announced this at Nvidia's The yearly software developers conference in San Jose, California, saw Nvidia dedicate an entire day of events to quantum computing.
After Huang stated in January that practical quantum computers are still two decades off, Nvidia introduced the program. On Thursday, when sharing the stage with executives from companies involved in quantum computing, he attempted to retract his earlier remarks.

Huang noted this marks the first instance in history where a company CEO has invited all attendees to elucidate why they believe he was mistaken.
The United States and China are at the forefront of advancing quantum technologies, while Washington has implemented export limitations on this tech.
Nvidia reported that it finished last year with record high revenue of US$130.5 billion, driven by demand for its chips to power artificial intelligence in data centres.
Nvidia anticipates revenues of around US$43 billion for the present fiscal quarter, surpassing analysts' predictions.
