Catherine Hardwicke’s new film Street Smart has completed its supporting cast with seven actors including Skeet Ulrich ( Scream ), Paris Jackson ( American Horror Stories ), Skylar Astin ( So Help Me Todd ), Marcia Gay Harden ( Mystic River ), Virginia Madsen ( Prey for the Devil Sideways ), Sally Struthers ( All in the Family ), Tyson Ritter ( Preacher Production has recently wrapped up in Los Angeles.
The drama feature heralds Hardwicke's return to her storytelling roots from such past work as Lords of Dogtown and Thirteen while returning to her examination of familial bonds formed through circumstance Twilight . She co-wrote Street Smart alongside New York Times best-selling author and screenwriter Nic Sheff.
Street Smart provides an enthralling glimpse into the existence of a vibrant community of homeless youth in the famous seaside city of Venice, California. These individuals unite through laughter and a touch of Robin Hood-esque theft, forming indissoluble connections and reshaping the concept of kinship.
The earlier announced ensemble features Isabelle Fuhrman, Yara Shahidi, Michael Cimino, Daniel Zovatto, Kaitlyn Kemp, Miles McKenna, Sylvester Powell, Isiah Hilt, and Harvey Guillén. In addition, the supporting cast comprises Colleen Camp, Rio Mangini, Bevin Bru, and JJ Green.
Street Smart seeks to ignite empathy and motivate action toward tackling the critical issues confronting homeless young people—especially those dealing with mental health problems, CPTSD, and discrimination within the LGBTQ community.
The movie is penned jointly by Hardwicke and Nic Sheff. Street Smart The production is led by Natalie Marciano from Poster Child Pictures, Jamie R. Thompson from New Dimensions, and Hardwicke. The executive producers involved are Gerard Butler and Alan Siegel from G-BASE, Jamie Marshall, Isabelle Furnham, Daniel Zovatto, David Lasky, along with Rock Jacobs and Batia Parnass from Rebel Entertainment.
