Balls and strikes: Kyle Hart conceded two runs off five hits and two walks during his stint of over three innings, where he tossed 59 pitches. This performance maintained his bid for the role of the team's fifth starting pitcher as the season began. In the initial frame, Hart managed to keep a clean sheet aided by an impressive fielding effort. Despite facing a slow 67 mph single and another sluggish 57 mph base knock in the subsequent inning, he still held strong and prevented any scores. Corbin Carroll smashed a solo homerun in the third inning, followed by the Diamondbacks scoring once more in the fourth via a sequence involving a walk, stolen base, and a hit; after this, Ron Marinaccio took over pitching duties from Hart. ... Marinaccio, competing for a spot in the bullpen, successfully navigated past threats in the fourth but succumbed to conceding a point in the succeeding round. ... To intercept this toss, Cronenworth rushed forward; his action forced Carroll to abruptly stop roughly midway along the baseline and return to third base barely ahead of a poorly balanced throw thrown by Cronenworth after him. The following hitter was then struck out by Hart.
On deck: Wes Benjamin, a southpaw who joined the team just last month following his tenure in the KBO spanning three years, is set to take the mound against the Brewers today at 1:10 PM PT at Peoria Stadium. Although Benjamin appears destined for a starting role with the Triple-A squad this season, he might also be considered as an option for a long-relief position.
