South Korean actor Yoo Yeon-seok has received a tax bill for 7 billion won ($4.8 million), which is said to be the largest such fine levied against a South Korean celebrity to date.
The National Tax Service informed Yoo about the tax assessment after conducting a thorough investigation, as stated. Chosun Biz .
The investigation is connected to the founding of his entertainment company, Forever Entertainment. Earlier this year, the 40-year-old performer sought a preliminary tax evaluation with intentions to contest the sum. After further explanation, the liability might decrease considerably to approximately 3 billion won ($2 million).

The tax disagreement involving Yoo was attributed to conflicting understandings of the rules between his financial advisors and government officials, as stated by his management firm, KingKong under Starship Entertainment. The Korea Herald reported.
The agency mentioned that the evaluation is still under development and they plan to challenge it via legal means.
Yoo's tax bill exceeds that of actress Lee Hanee, who was formerly penalized with an additional tax fine of 6 billion won, which was the largest such penalty ever documented in South Korea’s entertainment sector at that point.
Ahn Yeon-seok was born in Jinju, South Korea, and hails from an affluent background. At Sejong University, he pursued studies in filmmaking before making his acting debut in Park Chan-wook’s movie "Oldboy" released in 2003. His career took off notably through roles in "Reply 1994" and "When the Phone Rings."
In 2021, according to South Korean media reports, his fortune was valued at approximately $10 million. Also that year, he bought a villa costing 3.8 billion won located in Itaewon, Seoul.
Noted for his low-key personal life, Yoo remains unmarried at present.
