Boss of Labour's New Utility Firm Set to Earn £525,000 Salary

The boss of Labour 'S Great British Energy could receive up to £525,000 annually and will have the option to telecommute for two days each week.

The job posting for the CEO position at the state-run corporation has unveiled the staggering salary package being offered to the chosen applicant.

Their basic annual salary will be £350,000, with an additional possibility of earning up to another £175,000 based on their performance.

This indicates that their overall compensation might exceed triple the £166,786 salary received by Prime Minister Sir Kenneth. Keir Starmer .

This would also place them among the UK's top-earning quango bosses, even though Labour recently pledged to reduce 'bloated' Whitehall bureaucracy.

Today’s new data revealed that public sector employment in Britain has reached a 13-year peak.

In December last year, a total of 6.14 million individuals were employed by the government, as reported by the Office for National Statistics, marking the highest figure since December 2011.

Great British Energy has been established by Ed Miliband’s Department for Energy Security and Net Zero as part of Labour's initiative to position the UK as a 'clean energy superpower.'

It is supported by £8.3 billion from taxpayers’ funds, intended for investment in clean energy initiatives throughout the UK during the present parliamentary term.

Dan McGrail was recently named as the interim CEO of Great British Energy, but an advertisement has since appeared online seeking a candidate for a permanent position.

The selection process is being managed by the international talent firm Odgers Berndtson.

As per civil service regulations, the selected individual will be required to report to the office or perform duties outside their home for just 60 percent of their working time.

This indicates that employees had the option to connect remotely from their homes for two days each week as per the hybrid work arrangement.

Conservative Party lawmaker Andrew Bowie, who serves as the opposition spokesperson on energy issues, stated: "Now, British taxpayers will have to cover the costs for a CEO receiving compensation tenfold that of an average UK employee, all while people face another increase in their energy expenses under Labour."

Labour is foolishly squandering £8.3 billion of taxpayers’ funds on a power company that fails to produce any electricity, instead making Britain reliant on solar panels and wind turbines imported from coal-dependent China—all under the guise of Ed Miliband’s Net Zero objectives.

Richard Tice, the deputy leader of Reform UK and spokesperson for energy issues, commented: "Yet another high-paying position worth £350,000 to oversee an unnecessary organization that squanders taxpayer money."

'This bureaucratic system is where our tax money goes, leaving us all worse off financially.'
