Grab 'Believe' Signs and Grow a Mustache: Jason Sudeikis Returns for 'Ted Lasso' Season 4

Recall when Jason Sudeikis and the crew behind "Ted Lasso" mentioned the show was Officially done with Season 3 Even with multiple Emmy victories and unprecedented viewership on Apple TV+, who would have guessed? On Friday, Apple declared that the popular sports dramedy has been renewed for a fourth season. And guess what? The creator of the show and the face behind the iconic mustache, Sudeikis, will also be making a return.

Sudeikis will return as Coach Lasso, although no other casting details have been revealed yet. Deadline reported in August 2024 that cast members Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift had their options picked up by UK acting union Equity, fueling speculations that Season 4 was imminent .

Jack Burditt, known for works like "Nobody Wants This," "Modern Family," and "30 Rock," will serve as an executive producer for Season 4 under his new agreement with Apple TV+. Meanwhile, Goldstein is coming back as both a writer and executive producer along with Leanne Bowen, just as they were involved previously. They'll be working alongside additional executive producers Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee, and Bill Wrubel.

Bill Lawrence, who is presently overseeing both "Shrinking" and "Bad Monkey," continues to serve as an executive producer on the show through his production company, Doofer Productions.

Many people were hoping that the series finale would lead to potential spin-offs centered on characters who eventually became more captivating than Lasso. However, considering the brand’s popularity, it probably wasn’t easy for Apple TV+ to part ways with the show from the outset.

"As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap," said Sudeikis, star and executive producer of the series. "In season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it's exactly where they're meant to be."

"'Ted Lasso' has been an absolute sensation, cultivating a devoted global following and bringing boundless delight and humor, along with messages of kindness, empathy, and steadfast faith. We at Apple TV+ are delighted to extend our partnership with Jason and the exceptional team responsible for this series," stated Apple TV+ head of programming Matt Cherniss.

Created by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Kelly, and Hunt, and inspired by the established format and characters from NBC Sports, "Ted Lasso" rapidly gained popularity during its premiere season, securing an Emmy award for Outstanding Comedy Series along with accolades for Lead Actor (Sudeikis), Supporting Actor (Goldstein), and Supporting Actress (Waddingham) that same year. Except for Waddingham, the series replicated this success in the subsequent season when it was awarded again for its second installment across similar categories.
