On Thursday, the Jasper County Sheriff's Office released information stating that Bentrice Lamar Hay, aged 39 from Hampton, was arrested on April 1st.

Hay has been accused of murder and carrying a weapon during the commission of a crime related to a woman’s death in the Point South region of Jasper County on November 6, 2024.

The deputies arrived at the location that day only to discover the woman deceased. Initially, the incident was reported to the authorities as a suicide; however, the subsequent investigation revealed this information to be incorrect.
