On March 20, Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli announced that they would offer startup loan support to promote youth-led businesses. The initiative aims to distribute financial aid to approximately 500 business starters within this year.
In today’s session of the House of Representatives, Prime Minister Oli addressed queries from legislators regarding the selection process for an initiative aimed at attracting investments in startups through favorable interest rates. This program seeks to encourage creative and innovative business ventures and is currently nearing completion of its application review phase.
He noted that the government recently wrapped up the National Labor and Employment Conference, which was intended to boost domestic production and productivity as a foundation for stable job creation within the country. Additionally, he highlighted that in our interconnected world, individuals from some of the wealthiest nations often venture overseas for work, business ventures, and educational pursuits based on personal choices.
Prime Minister Oli remarked, "It would be inaccurate to view the nation’s young people leaving for foreign countries solely in a negative light. There is a dual perspective where their departure can be seen as personally praiseworthy, yet socially perceived as a concerning issue, thus sending out a detrimental message."
He went on to say, "In the past, people had few choices for making a living, but now these possibilities have broadened. The young generation has seized the chance to venture into every part of the globe. Nonetheless, this doesn’t imply that we haven’t been active in generating entrepreneurial and job opportunities domestically."
