The Spanish authorities have apprehended an alleged follower of the extremist organization Daesh in Córdoba, which is located in southern Spain. This arrest was made during a counter-terrorism raid conducted in collaboration with Morocco’s General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
The suspect was identified via detailed collaboration between the Civil Guard and the DGST. Investigators pointed to his "high level of engagement" on social media promoting Daesh propaganda as evidence, according to a statement from the Spanish Civil Guard on Thursday.
Under a court order, the person is seen as a possible security risk because of their extended exposure to violent jihadist material, the agency stated in a press release.
This arrest highlights the continuing collaboration on counterterrorism efforts between Spain and Morocco, as they join forces to fight extremism and enhance stability in their region.
