The Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar has asked local officials to guarantee the security and well-being of Vietnamese nationals who were saved from the area near the Myanmar-Thailand border.
At a press conference on Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang provided details regarding the safeguarding of the repatriated citizens when questioned about their protection.
She mentioned that according to reports from the embassy, Myanmar officials briefly held multiple Vietnamese citizens for breaching immigration regulations after cracking down on cyber fraud activities in Myawaddy, which is close to the Thailand border.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is collaborating closely with domestic entities to confirm the identities of those who have been arrested. Additionally, Vietnam’s diplomatic representatives in Myanmar and Thailand have received instructions to continue cooperating with local administrations to quickly enforce safeguarding actions and facilitate their return home, as mentioned by Hang.
