
Addis Ababa, March 19, 2025 (ENA) — Ethiopian Airlines and Etihad Airways have finalized a collaborative business partnership in Addis Ababa today.
It has been revealed that the pact encompasses an extensive codesharing partnership along with the initiation of new non-stop services connecting Addis Ababa and Abu Dhabi.
On July 15, Ethiopian Airlines plans to start its flight services to Abu Dhabi, whereas Etihad Airways intends to launch daily routes to Addis Ababa beginning October 1.
The chairman of the Ethiopian Airlines Group board, Lieutenant General Yilma Merdassa, and the chairman of the Etihad Airways board, Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, attended the signing ceremony.
The CEOs of the Ethiopian Airlines Group, Mesfin Tasew, and the head of Etihad Airways, Antonoaldo Neves, have inked this accord.
At the event, Ethiopian Airlines Group Board Chairman Lieutenant General Yilma Merdassa underscored the significance of the accord in strengthening ties between Ethiopia and the UAE, underscoring the strong fraternal bond shared by both countries.
He emphasized the significance of reciprocal advantages, aiming for a beneficial outcome for both airlines involved.
Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, the chairman of Etihad Airways' board, stated that Ethiopian Airlines sets "a Gold Standard" within the aerospace sector.
He commended the flexibility and cultural adherence of the Ethiopia Airlines group, showing hope for potential partnerships ahead.
The Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Mesfin Tasew, characterized the accord as groundbreaking, highlighting that it marks the start of a strategic collaboration.
He pointed out the agreement as Ethiopia Airlines' inaugural collaborative project, thereby highlighting the significance attached to the partnership with Etihad Airways.
The collaboration will aid in expanding the network and support the development of aviation within the region, the CEO mentioned additionally.
