On the fifth day of the World Boxing Cup held in Brazil in 2025, which concluded on Friday, April 4th in Foz do Iguaçu, Team USA wrapped up their participation. Jennifer Lozano added another bronze medal to Team USA’s tally during the second match of the day. In a fiercely contested fight against Lucia Elen Ayari from Italy, Lozano put up an impressive effort but ultimately fell short due to a narrow 3-2 split decision. This was Lozano's debut at the 51 kg category in an international competition following her performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics. It also marked her return to winning medals after claiming one previously at the 2024 USA Boxing International Invitational.
The U.S. team will have one boxer competing for the gold medal on Sunday when Yoseline Perez represents Team USA on Saturday, April 5th. This fighter hailing from Houston, Texas, will face off against Wiktoria Rogalinska of Poland in Match No. 96. Previously securing gold at the 2022 Youth World Championships, Perez aims for her inaugural top-level international gold medal win.
The USA Boxing Head Coach, Billy Walsh from Colorado Springs, Colorado, is spearheading Team USA’s efforts at the World Boxing Cup. Assisting him are National Resident Coach Timothy Nolan of Rochester, New York, and the newly appointed National Junior & Youth Coach Edward Fonteneaux from Fayetteville, North Carolina.
