As of April 4th, 2025, Nintendo of America has postponed the pre-order start for the U.S. Switch 2 indefinitely because of President Trump’s high tariffs and market instability. However, the launch date for the Nintendo Switch 2 set for June 5th still stands.
Following months of anticipation after unveiling the Nintendo Switch about eight weeks prior, Nintendo conducted a dedicated Direct event focusing entirely on the upcoming console. Let’s dive into our analysis covering all essential points. First up: the release date! The global debut of the Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for June 5th, 2025. In the U.S., pre-orders can be made starting from April 9th for this eagerly awaited device.
"Nintendo Switch 2 represents the next stage in home entertainment that also offers portable gameplay, building upon eight years of enjoyment and exploration since the launch of the original Nintendo Switch," stated Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa.
